Summit Christian School offers Library as a class period once per week for all of our students. Our goal is to foster a love of reading and provide appropriate level resources for our kids to explore and grow through books and supplemental reading materials. Our staff work to screen materials to make sure that they align with our mission and beliefs and to provide a range of authors that reflect the diversity of our school community.
The SCS library currently has over 5,500 books, as well as access to reading devices (Yoto players, etc), and online reading resources (through ViewSonic technology). Our selection of titles includes a combination of fiction and non-fiction works. Books are available for young readers, as well as book series and collections focused on our older, advanced readers.
Different seating options allow our readers to find spaces that are comfortable for them to engage in quiet reading, small group activities, or read-aloud opportunities.
Book fairs are offered once or twice per year as a way for students and families to grow their home libraries and share in the joy of reading together. Summit Christian School currently partners with SkyTree Book Fairs to provide this programming.
