Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO)
Summit Christian School has partnered with the Ohio Christian Education Network (OCEN) to offer a new giving platform to benefit our students. You have the potential to give an SCS student a life-giving opportunity to attend a high-quality Christian school that otherwise might be unaffordable to his or her family. Even better, you can do it at no cost to yourself.
Key Facts:
- The Ohio legislature has authorized the Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO) tax credit which authorizes donors who contribute to K-12 student scholarships through a certified SGO to receive a dollar-for-dollar reduction in their state taxes up to $750 per individual taxpayer (up to $1,500 for a couple filing jointly). Your gift to the Ohio Christian Education Network SGO (OCEN SGO) can go directly to a scholarship for a student attending a participating school of your choice.
- Donations to the SGO are eligible for the Ohio SGO tax credit. Regular gifts to Summit Christian School are not eligible for the Ohio SGO tax credit but are eligible for a charitable deduction on a federal return.
- Simply said, it’s a win-win. Donors reduce the state taxes they owe by supporting an organization that advances the gospel through the next generation. Anyone can give to the SGO – regardless of their connection to Summit Christian School or their place of residency in the state of Ohio. Give today and reap the benefits on your next state tax filing.
- OCEN SGO donations given prior to filing your taxes on April 15th can be claimed for the previous tax year.
